However, if you don't see the charging screen within an hour, or see the connect to power screen, you should check the jack, USB cable, and power adapter. You should make sure that everything is plugged in firmly as well as free of debris and not damaged. You might also try to use a different USB cable or power adapter.
  • Recovery Mode. If your iPhone turns on but gets stuck on the Apple logo or a red or blue screen during startup, try to restore your device with Recovery Mode. Here's how:
  1. Connect your device to a computer and open The Finder or iTunes.
  2. Locate your iPhone on your computer. If you're using Finder, you will find your device in its sidebar. If you're using iTunes, your device will show in the upper-left corner of its window.
  3. While your iPhone is connected, follow these steps:
  • If you're using iPhone 8 or later, you press and quickly release the Volume Up button. After that, you press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, you press and hold the Side button until you see the recovery mode screen.
  • If you're using iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, you press and hold the Top (or Side)  and Volume Down buttons at the same time. You should keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.
  • If your device is an iPhone 6s or earlier, you press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons at the same time. You should keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.
4. When you get the option to restore or update, you should choose Update. This way, your computer will try to reinstall your iOS without erasing your data. Your computer will download the software for your iPhone. However, if it takes more than 15 minutes, your phone will exit recovery mode. You will have to repeat steps 2 and 3.
  • Put your iPhone into DFU Mode. Even after jailbreak and iOS upgrade, your iPhone might not turn on because it won't boot up. You can try to get your phone into DFU to fix it. Here's how:
  1. Connect your iPhone to the computer with its USB cable.
  2. You hold on the Sleep/Wake button for 3 seconds and then release your finger.
  3. Hold on the Sleep/ Wake button again together with the Home button for 10 seconds.
  4. Release the finger on the Sleep/Wake button, but you should still hold on the Home button for 5 seconds.
  5. If the screen stays black and nothing appears, it means that your iPhone is in DFU mode.
  6. After that, you just need to follow the screen instructions in iTunes.
  • Contact Apple Support. If even after following the aforementioned steps your iPhone still won't turn on or you still see a black screen, then you will need to contact Apple Support.
